Reflection
Reflection should be part of a doctor’s every day practice and happens with both positive and negative events. Reflective practice is ‘the process whereby an individual thinks analytically about anything relating to their professional practice with the intention of gaining insight and using the lessons learned to maintain good practice or make improvements where possible’.
Requirements for ARCP are summarised in the ppt above. Further detail with templates to aid reflection and case examples of incidents for trainees and trainers from the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges 2018 are found in the Reflective Practice Toolkit here
