Blackboard

Blackboard is a Learning Management System used within Schools to deliver and support teaching and training.

We aim to develop and support a learning environment for the 21st Century that improves on existing methods and outcomes, and by diversifying its delivery methods, makes learning more accessible and equitable.

Blackboard is made up of 3 elements:

Blackboard Learn - this is where user and course data is stored. Users can access their courses and related materials here.

TDM v2 - this is the 'Self Service' portal that is used to create accounts, update user profiles, enrol onto courses and access certificates (where applicable).

Collaborate - this is the video conferencing solution that is provided by Blackboard.

Please see below for more information regarding each element.

Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn was created 'Mobile First,' meaning it has been specifically designed to work seamlessly with your mobile device or tablet. You can download the Blackboard App for your mobile and tablet devices through the Apple App Store and Google Play App Store

Each Specialist School has its own landing page, linked at the bottom of this page.

TDM v2

TDM v2 is a self-service course booking portal that is used for enrolling and unenrolling from teaching and training sessions on Blackboard (these sessions may be Virtual or face-to-face).

If you do not already have login details for Blackboard, you can create an account within TDM v2 by clicking 'View Course Catalogue' on the Blackboard home page (School links below) and clicking 'Sign Up' when TDM v2 has launched.

Please see attached "TDM V2 new trainee instructions Summer 2025" for further guidance on creating and managing your account.

When creating an account, you may be asked to enter your School. Please add 'Health Education England'

Collaborate

Collaborate is the Video Conferencing solution that Blackboard provides.

When you first join a Collaborate session, you will be asked to test your audio and video settings. We recommend participants join Collaborate sessions early to ensure that their camera and microphone are working in time for the start of the teaching or training session.

Please note that, as Collaborate is a browser-based platform, your overall experience is based on your internet connection. This may mean that your audio and video experience is affected if your internet connection is poor.

If you experience any issues accessing your School's Blackboard platform or require further support, please email Regional Teaching

For your information, you can access the Code of Conduct for Remote Teaching and Learning here.
