In 2015, one of the key areas that focused upon was the implementation of Trainer Accreditation. The GMC mandated that all medical educators involved with postgraduate training should have official accreditation by 2016. This process was developed and managed by the individual HEE regions in accordance with the national steer.

We will also be working to develop closer links with local Universities to strengthen the delivery of education and the specialty curricula, and to hopefully create more opportunities for trainees and educators alike to participate in educational events and activities.

A further priority will be to both develop and define  a more collaborative approach across the region between the medical and non-medical elements of the organisation, with a longer term view of creating one overall strategy in respect of education function.
