Accident & Emergency, General Medicine (including Haematology and Oncology, Respiratory and Stroke Medicine), Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Palliative Care.
Airedale scheme covers a mixed urban and rural area in West and North Yorkshire, including much of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Bronte country and the towns of Bingley, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Earby, Haworth, Ilkley, Keighley, Skipton and Settle.
This gives GP Registrars a chance to live and work in an area of outstanding beauty but also to experience both urban and rural general practice. There are excellent road and rail links to Leeds and Manchester.
The Airedale Programme aims to offer as much variety as possible to its Specialist Training Registrars. In addition to the standard hospital posts, we aim to be as flexible as possible with part time working and are sometimes able to offer Innovative posts in the community. Airedale is one of the smaller schemes in Yorkshire so there is a much greater opportunity to get to know other trainees and trainers well and the TPDs pride themselves on providing support when it is needed.
There is an opportunity to visit local practices during the half day release in the final year. We are very supportive of applications to gain Out Of Programme Experience (OOPE) as outlined in the Gold Guide.
