**** COVID19 **** Please note that currently all VTS sessions are being run remotely on Wednesday afternoon.
Please see below for an list of all upcoming half day release sessions.
It is really important that you attend as many sessions as you can. For those trainees in General Practice the expectation is that you will be able to attend all sessions (except for when you are on annual leave, study leave or off sick). For trainees in hospital jobs we acknowledge that there may be occasions when circumstances on the ward do not permit you to attend on time or at all - if this happens then please consider exception reporting this. If you find you are struggling to attend on a regular basis then please let one of the TPDs know. We would also remind you that you are paid to attend these sessions as part of your contract.
The sessions we run and facilitate are aligned to the GP curriculum. Sometimes we might do sessions as a whole group, sometimes we may split you up into separate groups.
Year Group sessions
Every 2-3 months we ask you to run sessions in your individual year groups. It is really important that you get together as a group and decide what you might wish to do - a whatsapp group can be a good way of aiding communication and organising these sessions. Sessions need to reflect the GP curriculum. Examples from previous sessions include reviewing books or films which have a medical focus, visiting a local residential care home for patients with severe autistic spectrum disorder, visiting Green Acre school or visiting the site of a local mining disaster.
