Teaching and Training
HEE Yorkshire and the Humber offer unique opportunities for foundation doctors to build on their professional development by attending Foundation Training Days. F1s and F2s will attend several Training Days throughout the year.
The topics covered include:
- Managing your medical career
- Teach the teacher (teaching skills course)
- Advanced life support
- Quality improvement training
- Simulation training
As part of the updated Training Programme, we have additional Bridging the Gap courses to help with the transition from F2 into core training.
Simulation
We are keen to offer simulation training to all of our trainees and are working towards having a minimum of one day of simulation training in both F1 and F2. We are developing exciting simulation training which covers topics including managing the unwell patient, human factors and leadership.
F1s have protected weekly teaching time to reinforce a wide range of clinical topics covered by the foundation curriculum. The teaching is usually held in each of the main hospitals, and sometimes by video-link. Trainees are expected to attend 70% of weekly teaching.
