Airedale General Hospital is a small but busy DGH in the village of Steeton in between Keighley and Skipton, a beautiful 45min drive from Leeds. Our catchment area for patients is large extending from the Yorkshire Dales to East Lancashire, outskirts of Bradford and Ilkley. Owing to our relative distance from other hospitals we have retained many subspecialties and provide full imaging services for these.

There are 10 consultant radiologists all of whom provide cover for their own area of subspecialty interest. We have a busy ultrasound department in addition to 2 CT scanners and an MRI scanner. We perform vascular intervention and diagnostic procedures on site.

We offer an attachment currently for a first year registrar although would consider interest from more senior trainees although there are not currently any on call opportunities here for a registrar.  We are an enthusiastic, well-motivated group of consultants with a reputation for being easy to get along with and all registrars are welcomed to become as involved with the department as possible. We provide comprehensive education on all modalities as well as specialist services. Trainees are supervised on a 1:1 at all times by a consultant radiologist and remain supernumerary to the department’s running, with little, if any, service provision commitment. Due to our small size our results on national feedback are not statistically significant to feature on GMC surveys but our feedback is excellent- please feel free to ask any of our previous trainees!
