Internal Medicine Training CT1 - Round 1.
IMT in Yorkshire and the Humber
IMT is the primary entry point and initial stage of training for those trainees who wish to follow a career in medical specialties, such as cardiology, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, etc.
Three-year training
Following completion of the foundation programme, IMT trainees will undertake three years of core training, during which they will take up a number of different posts - typically either four or six months in duration - labelled 'rotations'.
These rotations will give trainees much varied experience of, and exposure to, a wide range of medical specialties, acute medicine, and the workings of differently-sized and structured hospitals and trusts.
In addition, trainees will gain the chance to work with and for a much greater variety of colleagues and patients from different backgrounds and with disparate levels of experience; plus the opportunity to become much more involved in medical teaching and training
IMT is provided in three geographically distinct rotation:
East (based around Hull), South (based around Sheffield) and West (based around Leeds). This means that you will not normally be required to travel for more than 1 hour on your placements, which supports your work-life balance.
In order to assess your suitability for this training programme please refer to the national Person Specifications on the Specialty Training website.
The expected duration of this training programme is 3 years subject to satisfactory progression. The actual duration may depend on the circumstances of individual trainees.
Physician recruitment in 2021
