Laparoscopic Simulation Skills Training.
Laparoscopic simulators are spread throughout Yorkshire and the Humber region for all trainees to use. There are 7 centres with virtual reality, LapMentor simulators that have a gynaecology procedures module with procedures to practice such as sterilisation, salpingectomy and oophorectomy, as well as basic and advanced laparoscopic tasks.
A structured training programme has been created to help all trainees learn, practice and improve laparoscopic skills by using the simulators. This consists of:
- a practical component
- a theoretical component – STRATOG Minimal Access Surgery
The training can be undertaking using any of the simulators around the region (basic boxes and virtual reality) and trainees not at centres with a virtual reality simulator can access these by booking with the centre in advance. Contact details and further information of the tasks to practice specific to each year of training are outlined in the document below.
