ARCPs

Please note that NHS ENGLAND Yorkshire and the Humber has published ARCP guidance relating to all Specialties: https://www.yorksandhumberdeanery.nhs.uk/specialty_training/appraisal__assessment

An Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) will be held annually for all Postgraduate Doctors in Training. We strongly recommend that you familiarise yourself with the ARCP process promptly rather than waiting to be summoned for your ARCP.

Upcoming ARCPs are publicly advertised on this webpage. You will receive at least six weeks’ notice of your ARCP to ensure that the necessary documentation is uploaded to your ePortfolio. However, we advise you to regularly update your ePortfolio throughout the year. You will require a completed Educational Supervisor’s report, so please allocate time to meet with your ES before your ARCP.

Please ensure that you are fully aware of the ARCP requirements and have the most recent RCOG matrix. All competencies must be met for you to be awarded an outcome 1.

Every day of your training must be covered by an ARCP. You will receive a non-assessment form for any period of time that does not count towards your training, such as maternity leave or sick leave (more than 14 days). You will receive an outcome 8 for a period of time out of program that does not count towards your CCT.

To prepare for your ARCP, please refer to the College decision aid(s) and curriculum requirements for your Specialty Programme, which can normally be found on the school website or the RCoG website. The ARCP panel can only make a decision based on the evidence provided in your portfolio. All evidence should be uploaded toyour ePortfolio at least 2 weeks' prior to your ARCP date.

Revalidation Form R (Part B)

All postgraduate doctors in training are required to provide an up-to-date Form R (Part B) as part of the revalidation process. We have written to you separately to confirm that you should now complete your Form R (Part B) using the self-service of our Trainee Information System (TIS). Linked HERE.
If you will be on statutory leave (e.g., sick, maternity, parental or adoption leave) at the time of the ARCP, your evidence will not be reviewed by the panel and you will be issued an outcome N1 or N2 (not assessed). A follow-up ARCP will normally be arranged after your return from statutory leave.
Trainees on statutory leave are still required to submit a Form R (Part B). This is to ensure that there are no gaps in your revalidation history and to inform NHS England of any resolved or unresolved incidents which may have taken place since your last ARCP, and prior to commencement of statutory leave.

There is a section on ARCPs on the RCOG website which may be useful for you.
