Core Surgical Training in Yorkshire and the Humber

The Core Surgical Training programme is an integral part of the Yorkshire and Humber School of Surgery which is led by Mr Paul Renwick, Head of School.

The aims of the School of Surgery are:

  • To prepare and equip surgeons to meet the challenges of surgical practice and deliver the highest standard of care for patients.
  • To deliver surgical education programmes within Yorkshire and the Humber that meet GMC quality standards and embrace College guidelines and ethos.
  • To recognise and respond to the needs of our trainees, trainers and their employers.

Core Surgical Training follows the ISCP curriculum which includes generic skills applicable to all surgeons but also prepares trainees for their choice of specialty training.

The Core Surgical Training programme is managed by a team of Training Programme Directors, listed here.

In order to assess your suitability for this training programme please refer to the national Person Specifications on the Specialty Training website.

The expected duration of this training programme is 2 years subject to satisfactory progression. The actual duration may depend on the circumstances of individual trainees.
