Quality Improvement Projects (QIP)
During core and internal medical training you are required to complete at least one quality improvement project each year and complete an assessment on it (the QIPAT). QIPs provide great opportunities to contribute more widely to the quality and safety of clinical care. Your team may well have ideas for projects, or that require you to continue, so please communicate with them early as you are likely to be a great help! During the IMT3 year, it is expected that you will demonstrate leadership on your project, so be thinking about this early. There are also regional and national prizes for well conducted projects! It is important to seek out and nominate a Consultant sponsor early. It is also essential to ensure that the project is registered with your trust as appropriate.
There is a regional IMT QiP project competition for IM trainees. Submissions for abstracts and applications will be opened around May each year.
The National IMT QI Showcase was in June this year click here.
