What to do if you are struggling?

A number of trainees will run into difficulties in training. There may be health problems or difficulties at work. The school's first aim is to support the trainee, whilst safeguarding patients. It is always best to discuss issues that are affecting training and progress early.

You can speak to your clinical or educational supervisor, your TPD or the Head of School. You should register with a GP and see them if you have health problems. If you are feeling stressed or down then please consider seeking help and support. This can seem difficult to do.  If these feelings are affecting training we will know, but even if they are not it is worthwhile seeking support. There are confidential support phone lines for doctors. The deanery also has confidential support for trainees under pressure and trainees can self refer to the "Take Time" program.
