Surgical Training Regions

Our large region spreads from Scarborough to Chesterfield and Halifax to Hull, embracing Leeds and Sheffield and a population of over 5 million people. Within it are urban conurbations and many rural areas (the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, and the East Coast). Training Facilities

The School of Surgery recognises that curtailed work hours and the transition to a more senior led service has implications for skills acquisition of trainees nationwide. It is therefore paramount to supplement skills learnt in the operating theatre with practice on simulators which are provided around the region. Skills training sessions are included as part of the teaching programme of many subspecialties in the school.
