3. Blackboard Platform:
The knowledge-based part of our education programme will be delivered virtually via Blackboard. This is a system being used throughout all the Schools in Yorkshire and the Humber. You will be sent an email with your login details shortly, so that you can access the material at any time. If you are unable to attend any sessions due to other unmovable commitments, you can access the course content at your leisure. However, do note, that you will be expected to attend the live, interactive session if you are not on call/ post-nights/on holiday. Your elective session should be covered by your Trust.
4. Trainees Day:
This will be a “conference” day hosted by a Trust within the region. The programme will be announced as soon as I have formalised plans, but it will involve trainee presentations and awards for trainees and faculty who have contributed to education during the year. Hopefully, there will be a social event in the evening, your support of the event would be absolutely valued by all of us. Please put this date in your diary – Saturday 26/3/22.
5. VIVA Sessions:
Along with Alex Buchanan, STH Fellow, I have timetabled evening viva sessions to take place before the Part 2 examinations on the following dates:
Thursday 13/5/21 7-9pm
Thursday 1/7/21 7-9pm
Thursday 19/8/21 7-9pm
Thursday 27/1/22 7-9pm
I will be organising more as JCIE release exam dates. Please email me on rinageorge@nhs.net with the date of your part 2 exam and your specialty interest, if you would like to take part. I will then allocate sessions accordingly.
6. Simulation:
I will be working with consultants around the region to support delivery of simulation at a local and regional level. As you may be aware, there has been a huge investment in hardware recently, so I will be working with colleagues around the region to develop generic and subspecialty “courses.” I will be announcing plans as soon as I am able.
Finally, I am very keen to get your views on how you would like to see your education taken forward. I will be advertising for a panel of trainees to help shape the programme for the future. Watch this space!
