Welcome to Doncaster and Bassetlaw GP Training Scheme

 

The scheme is an amalmigation of the Doncaster and Clumber Park GP Training Schemes.

These two training schemes have been well established for many years and have a wealth of excellent training practices from small single site practices to large multi-site practices, from urban to rural, from deprived communities to more well off.

Whatever your cup of tea, we are likely to have something to suit you.

We can almost guarantee you plenty of laughs along the way and close team camaraderie with your fellow trainees.

 

 

Doncaster is very well located from our main feeder University of Sheffield, it is actually only 25 miles in distance and due to motorway links is actually quicker to get to by car than travelling across Sheffield in the rush hour!

With fast motorway links as well as a fast train service to Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester as well as Edinbrough and Newcastle. London is only 1 hr 30 mins away!

For sports fanatics Doncaster has a leading racecourse, famous for holding the St Ledger race in September, with meets throughout the year. We also have both a Football, Rugby Union team and a Rugby League team. There are numerous gyms and sports facilities as well as an Ice skating rink and ten pin bowling alley and lakes for boating, canoeing and jetskiing.

For entertainment there is a multiscreen Vue cinema as well as a brand new £20m purpose built theatre and established museum

There is a variety of good affordable housing in differing locations from flats to townhouses and homes in outlying villages such as Bawtry and Tickhill

There are plenty of places to see and visit around Bassetlaw. Whether you love hiking or cycling, Bassetlaw is a great region to explore. Families will enjoy Sundown Adventureland, Wetlands Animal Park and Clumber Park and those with a taste for nostalgia will find Bassetlaw Museum and Mr Straw’s House fascinating. The myths and legends associated with Robin Hood are waiting to be discovered at Sherwood Forest. The Visitor Centre is located in Edwinstowe just 12 miles away. Rufford Abbey and the Beth Shalom Holocaust Centre are just a short drive away into the district of Newark and Sherwood. The Tropical Butterfly House and Gainsborough Old Hall.

In the 19th century the name ‘the Dukeries’ was given to the area of North Nottinghamshire where palaces and vast estates had been created against backdrop of Sherwood Forest. Using Worksop as a centre it is possible to explore what remains of some of these estates. Some have been turned into hotels; Thoresby Hall and Hodsock Priory; some have extensive parkland to explore such as Clumber Park and Rufford Abbey Country Park.

If you are looking to do something totally unique, what about booking a course at the School of Artisan Food at Welbeck? It offers a range of short courses in everything from cheese making to cider brewing through to artisan ice cream making. Thaymar Ice Cream and Farm Shop, at Haughton Park Farm near Bothamsall also welcomes groups prior arrangement, allowing visitors to see and taste hand made ice cream being created.
