Curriculum Delivery.

Each trainee will rotate through a site-based teams on a four-monthly basis to ensure all areas of the curriculum are covered.

Protected teaching time is provided throughout training.

South Yorkshire Training opportunities

- All ST3 trainees from across Yorkshire and the Humber attend weekly Thursday morning sessions - FRCR Part 1 course covering full syllabus including pharmacology, statistics, physics and cancer biology. Trainees are also funded to attend the radiobiology and statistics course and the physics course, both run by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

- Weekly Thursday morning sessions for those preparing to take the FRCR Part 2 course covering full syllabus, tutorials and practice sessions

- Weekly Wednesday afternoon FRCR Part 2B formal mock examinations in Leeds for 6 weeks leading up to exam - exam condition mock viva and clinical exams for those sitting the FRCR Part 2B

- Regional Training days - held between Leeds, Sheffield and Hull. Protected training days with activities ranging from simulation days to cancer site specific training

- Oncology educational sessions - Every Friday afternoon PGME meetings including journal club, Morbidity and Mortality, audit, clinical governance and site specific training. The topics covered are developed through curriculum requirements as well as through trainee feedback

- Annual "Leeds Oncology Research Day" (LORD) - regional meeting allowing trainees from the whole department to showcase their academic achievements via oral and poster presentations

- Numerous informal departmental teaching sessions to support your examinations

- Mock interviews for higher degree/consultant posts

- Trainees are encouraged to access a wide variety of other opportunities for training within the trust, including weekly Palliative Radiotherapy sessions and research lunchtime seminars organised by Professor Thomas Helleday

- WPCC hosts two well established courses annually: the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy and Clinical Pharmacology course and the FRCR II Preparation course

West Yorkshire Training opportunities

Weekly thursday morning sessions - FRCR Part 1 course covering full syllabus including Pharmacology, Statistics, Physics and cancer biology. (Christie radiobiology course is funded also)

- Weekly wednesday afternoon sessions - FRCR Part 2 course covering full syllabus, tutorials and practice sessions

- Weekly wednesday afternoon FRCR Part 2B formal mock examinations for 6 weeks leading up to exam - exam condition mock viva and clinical exams for those sitting the FRCR Part 2B

- Regional Training days - held between Leeds, Sheffield and Hull. Protected training days with activities ranging from simuation days to cancer site specific training.

- Discounted access to our National FRCR Part 2A SBA course

- ARC clinic - weekly palliative radiotherapy clinic attended by trainees on a rotational basis, teaching is supervised by a senior trainee or consultant

- Oncology educational sessions - Every friday morning in house oncology "grand round"

- Annual "Leeds Oncology Research Day" (LORD) - regional meeting allowing trainees from the whole department to showcase their academic acheivements via oral and poster presnetations.
