Welcome to Yorkshire and Humber and GP Training - we hope you have a wonderful time studying to become a general practioner. Below is a list of courses and support you can rely on when you start.

  1. Enhanced Induction  The GP school organizes a two (2) day enhanced Induction for new to the NHS GP trainees. It is usually a two (2) day induction to cover as many aspects of GP training as possible. Please contact GP admin on  england.gptrainingsupport.yh@nhs.net if you have not received any information about this prior to your start date.  Apart from the general induction, you will also have local inductions if starting in a community or hospital post. The General Medical Council also offers a Welcome to the UK Practice Online Module which can be found here https://www.gmc-uk.org/about/what-we-do-and-why/learning-and-support/workshops-for-doctors/welcome-to-uk-practice
  2. Enhanced Support Period: The GP school has an Enhanced support placement for Internationally trained Doctors who are new to the NHS or have completed close to six (6) months in a GP placement but have no UK acute NHS hospital based experience. It is usually a two (2) week period where Doctors are expected to become familiar with the ward or department in which they will be working in by working alongside the team and shadowing them. During this period Health Education Engalnd (HEE) will arrange generic refresher simulation training. The GP school will be in contact prior to the Enhanced Support Period but if you have any questions or concerns please contact england.gptrainingsupport.yh@nhs.net
