Host organisation: School of Paediatrics Yorkshire and Humber
Post location: Hull Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Potential Applicants: Medical Specialty Trainees (ST3+)
Number of Posts: 1
Post start date: August 2022
This post aims to give a leadership fellow (LF) opportunity to develop leadership competencies, values and behaviours by leading a training quality improvement (QI) project. The LF will develop and implement innovative quality improvement projects to improve training across Yorkshire and the Humber with a particular focus on the East of Yorkshire. This will have a positive impact on recruitment and retention, which remain a challenge within the area. The LF will be working on seven quality standards as outlined in the ‘Trainee Charter’, recently published by the Royal College of Paediatrics (RCPCH). An audit of the standards will have been completed next year and will form the basis for their improvement work. This work will support the implementation of Shape of Training in Paediatrics by improving local core training as described in the RCPCH ‘The Paediatrician of the Future’ publication and will address differential attainment through the local IMG working group. The LF will be working with the School, local stakeholders including trusts, and the ICS. This project will have regional and national impact by demonstrating how a training QI tool can lead to improved training and ultimately improved patient outcomes in a remote location.
