National Paediatric Surgery ST3 Recruitment

2027

The national Recruitment Office for ST3 Paediatric Surgery is NHS England - North East and Yorkshire. All posts have the required educational and Dean's approval.

NHS England – North East & Yorkshire is co-ordinating national recruitment for vacancies in Paediatric Surgery ST3 and LAT posts across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Applications open at 10am on 19 November 2026 and the closing date is 4pm on 10 December 2026. 

All interviews will be held online - date TBC. A round 2 is not expected in 2027.  Applicants are requested to submit one application electronically for all vacancies via the Oriel recruitment portal.

2027 Recruitment Updates

Changes have been made to the Self-Assessment Criteria and Guidance for 2027

The Paediatric Surgery ST3 Self-Assessment form for the 2027 recruitment round is now available in the Documents section of this webpage.

Further information regarding changes to the 2027 Paediatric Surgery ST3 Self-Assessment framework has also been published in the Documents section. The updated guidance provides a summary of the major approved changes to the self-assessment criteria ahead of the 2027 recruitment round.

Applicants are strongly advised to review all updated documentation in advance of applications opening in November.

 

Changes to the 2027 Interview process –

• The total number of stations will remain at four.
• Changes have been made to the Career Progression station, which will now incorporate a Non-Technical Skills element.
