Year on year the number of patients attending Acute Oncology Assessment is increasing. This Clinical Leadership Fellow post offers the opportunity to improve patient flow within the Acute Oncology Unit and will include analysing the source of referrals and developing sustainable alternate patient pathways. The CLF is expected to become competent in the application of the Leeds Improvement Method, the Trust's approach to quality improvement and service redesign. They can achieve this through their active participation in the Lean for Leaders programme, and by practising these techniques in their project. The Fellow will be supported in setting and achieving their own goals, attending regular Educational Supervisor and Leadership Supervisor meetings. They will demonstrate how their role within a hospital specialty fits in the wider NHS structure, including commissioning, healthcare monitoring, regulation and patient advocacy. The role will also develop self-awareness, and time management skills outside of previous job experiences. They will be part of a team organising events including the Junior Doctor Awards and will edit the quarterly Doctors Digest. There will be a strong focus on personal development including leadership skills throughout the year and the fellow will be supported both on a professional and pastoral level by senior leaders within the trust including the Chief Medical Officer, Associate Medical Director for QI and the Quality Directorate.
