Yorkshire and Humber offer a suite of courses as part of the Supported Return to Training Programme (SuppoRTT), some of which are also useful for IMGs in supporting your integration into the NHS workforce and UK Healthcare System. You can attend any of these courses within the first six months of working within the NHS and can see the full list of available courses on the SuppoRTT course webpage


Enhancing Colleague Relationships Through Culturally Sensitive Communication

Duration: One day from 9.30am - 3.00pm     Format: Virtual via Zoom    |   Delivered by: Point Taken Training   |   Frequency: Twice per year

Moving to a new country brings challenges, and adapting to workplace culture is key to success. Through discussions and exercises, this workshop will support IMGs in developing skills in active listening, assertiveness, teamwork, and handling workplace dynamics.


Increasing Confidence In Communicating With Culturally Diverse Patients

Duration: One day from 9.30am - 3.00pm     Format: Virtual via Zoom    |   Delivered by: Point Taken Training   |   Frequency: Twice per year

This interactive workshop is designed for IMGs to navigate the challenges of a medical career in the UK. Gain insights into British culture, build strong patient relationships, and master time-pressured consultations with confidence. Learn practical tips and techniques to thrive from day one!


International Medical Graduates: Tools to Support you to Thrive in the NHS

Duration: One day from 9.30am - 4.30pm     Format: Virtual via Zoom    |   Delivered by: Dr Sanju Shubhu   |   Frequency: Twice per year

Delivered by a Consultant International Medical Graduate, this course will provide IMGs with the tools to address issues that may affect you personally and professionally 

We will discuss team and workplace integration, confidence and anxiety of working in an unfamiliar environment, awareness of own communication needs, learning about differential attainment and how to access support. There will also be discussions on self-care, resilience and thriving in the workplace.


IMG Virtual Networking Sessions

The SuppoRTT for International Medical Graduates (IMG) Future Leader Fellow regularly runs Virtual Networking Sessions for Postgraduate Medical and Dental IMGs within Yorkshire and Humber. Featuring guest speakers, these sessions are hosted on Microsoft Teams and provide you with an opportunity to connect with other IMG PGDiTs and learn from the experiences of colleagues.

You don't need to book to attend the networking sessions, simply use the joining link at the advertised time to attend. Please note: when you join the meeting you will enter a lobby and will be admitted when the session is ready to commence.
