Support Service - New Junior Doctor Contract and GP.

Dear Colleagues, 


The GP School has highlighted the need for practical and tangible support for those practices planning to offer the new contract to GP trainees or any Practice wishing to learn more about the new contract. A new GP practice support service which will enable this has been announced by NHS Employers. St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a lead employer for GP Trainees in some areas, has experience of working with GP Practices, and has been commissioned by NHS Employers to provide support to practices around the new contract.

Accessing this support should ensure;

· Practices are able to correctly calculate salary detail;

· Practices are able to roster working hours which meet the safety requirements set out in the terms and conditions of service and;

· Practices are able to design and issue work schedules that are fit for purpose, and to respond to exception reports appropriately.

Advice and support from the St Helens and Knowsley Lead Employer service can in the first instance be obtained through their dedicated email .


They will aim to respond to any queries within two complete working days following receipt.

The email service and access to HR direct will be available from Thursday 13th July with the telephone helpline fully staffed from Monday.
