Increasing GP Training Placements at Practices in Yorkshire and the Humber
The GP School will be offering a one-off payment to practices to support them to increase their GP training capacity. The offer will also be available to new to training practices. The payment will be £10K for an extra full-time GP training placement and £5K for an extra 50-60% GP training placement.
Differential attainment (DA) is is how we refer the gap in attainment levels between different groups of doctors.
The Yorkshire and the Humber GP School has developed several interventions for GP Trainers and Postgraduate Doctors in Training (PGDiTs) to help close this gap.

Structure of support team
- Possible training support issue identified by CS/ES/TPD/Centrally
- Speak to Scheme Training Support TPD (each scheme should have a nominated TPD)
- TPD will give advice and support/may meet with the PGDiT.
If TPD needs more help/ support/advice
- Training Support Locality Lead
They may advise, support and/or meet with PGDiT
- AD Training Support
They can advise/support, get clarity from SMT regarding difficult decision etc

Courses currently offered under training support

Exam courses and support - Enhanced AKT support course, Enhanced RCA support course, workshops and 1:1 support (see separate flow diagrams below)

Booster courses – one a year for each ST year group – for trainees who are under central training support needing that additional level of support, already having/very high risk of needing additional training time and extra support

Study skills course – looking at approaching study, reducing exam related anxiety (not exam specific information)
- Linguistics Skills – as well as session arranged under DA if there are specific issues 1:1 sessions can be arranged on a case by case basis.
