Educational Supervision

All trainees will be allocated an Educational Supervisor. The way in which this works varies between localities.

North, East and West Yorkshire

For Trainees in these areas the Educational Supervisor is usually the consultant they are working for. They will receive an hour a week of Educational Supervision from this person who will also complete the learning agreement, end of placement assessment and ARCP assessment if the placement is at the end of the training year.

To ensure that there is a person who is familiar with  the trainee’s progress throughout their  training core trainees will be allocated a College Tutor and higher trainees will have a Training Programme Director or Deputy Training Programme Director who will meet them on a regular basis. The Tutor or TPD will review and sign the ARCP assessment which has been completed by the Educational Supervisor at the end of the training year.

South Yorkshire

In South Yorkshire, Trainees are allocated an Educational Supervisor for the duration of core or higher training. They will hold regular meetings with the trainee to review progress. The Consultant the trainee works for will be the clinical supervisor and will hold a one hour meeting with the trainee per week. The clinical supervisor will complete the learning agreement, end of placement assessment forms and the ARCP form if it is the end of the training year. The Educational Supervisor will review these forms with the trainee and sign the ARCP assessment.
