Current trainees Ruth Derham, Amanda Porch and Kate Reynolds say:

"Taking a year out and coming to Wanganui is the best decision I have ever made and I would recommend it to anyone! It has been so useful in gaining extra experience in a wider variety of specialities, and has ben fantastic from a personal perspective due to the vast variety of holiday options in New Zealand and the friendliness of the hospital staff and locals".

"New Zealand is a fantastic place to live and work. Wanganui is situated in an excellent location to explore the rest of New Zealand at weekends. A further year of hospital work is a great opportunity to fill the knowledge gaps before entering the final ST3 year of GP".

"We are very much enjoying our time at Wanganui and are getting to see plenty of the North Island of New Zealand at weekends. The hospital is small and departments include ED, medicine, surgical, orthopaedics, rehab, paediatrics, O&G and psychiatry. The day job is relatively low intensity (especially compared to the UK)".
