Recruitment 2023/24

Specialty Training Programme Recruitment Event for 2024
October 10th 2023, 2pm - 4pm

Programme details

Delivery of our training programme is led by Head of School and the Training Programme Directors along with support from educational, academic and project supervisors across the region. Training is mainly provided through placements at a variety of locations:

  • Our school is based in Leeds, but we provide training opportunities across the whole of North, East, South and West Yorkshire, incorporating large cities, smaller towns and rural settings, and including populations of significant affluence and marked deprivation.
  • Our registrars gain public health experience within many settings, including local authorities, national and local NHS organisations, academic institutions and Public Health England.
  • We also support more diverse training opportunities, reflecting the expanding role of public health across different organisations. Examples include regular placements at West Yorkshire Police and international work in Swaziland. We currently have 40 registrars on our training programme.

Successful candidates could be working in any one of the 15 councils across Yorkshire. After the successful candidates have been made an offer, The Head of school, and potential Educational Supervisors will be in contact to make sure there is capacity in the candidates desired location.

TPDs try to allocate posts that are reasonably commutable to the candidate’s current geographical position. For example, if a registrar lives in West Yorkshire it would be one of the 5 councils in West Yorkshire, and so on across the county.

The process used is detailed on the FPH website at: http://www.fph.org.uk/applications_in_england%2c_scotland_and_wales
