The GP School in Yorkshire and the Humber is proud of the contribution that Yorkshire and the Humber GP educators make to the work of the Royal College of General Practitioners, not least our trainers and training programme directors who are college examiners. The School and its trainees benefit from our local examiners’ expertise and understanding of the MRCGP examination. The RCGP have asked for our help  informing medical educators in Yorkshire and the Humber about their plans to review the college’s processes with respect to recruiting examiners.

The Chief Examiners writes:

“I am writing to let you know that we are in the process of reviewing our arrangements for recruitment to the panel of examiners for MRCGP examinations in line with new recommendations from the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and the General Medical Council.  We will be consulting with stakeholders, including COGPED about our new process to ensure that it remains fair and fit for purpose, and complies with our public sector equality duty.  We anticipate that the review will be completed by August 2015 and will let you know the details of the new process as soon as we can.  In the interim we have closed our waiting list to new applicants and have written to all those currently on the waiting list to inform them of the review.”

Further details will be published on the RCGP website in due course:
